CAF CL: Match day 5 results

Group A: Power Dynamos restarts everything, Berkane under pressure

Group A has changed at Ndola. By winning 2-0 against RS Berkane, Power Dynamos have completely relaunched the race for qualification. Long dominated in the first period, the Zambians made the difference from the recovery on a defensive error exploited by Ronel Manyanga, before Prince Mumba sealed the success in overtime.

This result allows Power Dynamos to return to Berkane’s level with seven points. Behind the leader Pyramids FC, the last day promises to be decisive in determining the two qualified.

Group D: Petro Atlético stalled, Simba plays spoilers
In Luanda, Petro Atlético missed a golden opportunity to gain the upper hand. The Angolans were held (1- 1) by Simba SC, yet already eliminated. After Pedro Pinto’s early scoring, Petro never managed to take cover despite a clear domination.

At the end of the match, Simba was rewarded for his perseverance thanks to Anicet Ora, who equalized in the 81st minute. This draw leaves Petro in third place with six points, tied with Espérance de Tunis, and maintains total suspense before the final day.

Group B: closed duel between JS Kabylie and Al Ahly

No goal, but a lot of tension in Tizi Ouzou between JS Kabylie and Al Ahly (0-0). The Algerians pushed for a long time, creating the best opportunities for themselves, but stumbled on a decisive Mostafa Shobeir and a bit of bad luck. Al Ahly, more cautious, managed the low times without ever really taking control of the match. This draw does not fully suit either of the two teams and shifts the verdict to the final day, where each point will weigh heavily.

In Rabat, AS FAR had to wait until the last minutes to beat the Young Africans (1-0). Dominating by sequences, the Military clashed with an inspired goalkeeper and a dangerous Tanzanian team in counterattack.

While Young Africans had missed a huge opportunity by Prince Dube, Anas Bach released the AS FAR in the 84th minute. A precious success that keeps the Moroccans in good position in the quarter-shift race, while the Tanzanians leave with big regrets.

Group C: MC Alger and Lupopo keep the suspense
Group C remains one of the most undecided. Friday in Algiers, MC Alger relaunched the competition by inflicting to Al Hilal Omdurman his first defeat (2-1). Efficient and strong, the Algerians return to a point of the Sudanese leader before the last day.

Sunday, FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo and Mamelodi Sundowns shared the spoils (1-1) in Lubumbashi in a key match for second place. This sharing of points totally restarts the group, where three teams can still believe in qualification.
