The appointment is made on the shores of the Indian Ocean. This Friday, February 13, 2026, the city of Dar Es Salaam will welcome the members of the CAF Executive Committee for a working session that promises to be decisive. Officially, CAF brings up a routine meeting to discuss various topics of continental importance. Unofficially, it’s a real judicial overhaul that is being prepared.
The shadow of the final Morocco - Senegal
According to information from Sport News Africa, the main agenda will be devoted to tightening the legal and disciplinary code of the body. This desire emanates directly from President Patrice Motsepe. The South African leader, marked by the heated events of the final of the AFCON 2025 between Morocco and Senegal, had already expressed his desire to provide the CAF with more "deterrent" sanctions to prevent the scenes of last January 18 from happening again.
As a reminder, the scenes of chaos observed in Rabat — invasions of the VAR zone, the Senegalese coach Pape Thiaw who orders his players to leave the field, fights in the stands and an attempt to invade the pitch, or even the violence committed by ball pickers against a goalkeeper—had already led to heavy fines, but Motsepe believes that a stricter framework is necessary to preserve "the integrity and image of African football." A new arsenal of sanctions should thus be implemented.
Countdown to the AFCON 2027 is launched
Beyond the regulatory aspect, this meeting in Tanzania is highly symbolic. It marks a key milestone in the countdown to the next Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for East Africa. By meeting in Dar es Salaam, the Executive Committee is providing strong political support to the Kenya - Tanzania - Uganda trio, which is preparing to host the first ever tournament on three host countries.
At the end of this meeting, CAF will hold a press conference scheduled at the Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam at 10am GMT). The decisions will be announced by Patrice Motsepe himself and the session will be broadcast live on CAF TV.
