Idrissa Gana Gueye, champion of Africa in 2021 is still very hungry as the 2025 edition approaches in Morocco. The 36-year-old veteran promised that he and his teammates will give everything to bring back the second star to Senegal, but refuses the label of favorite.« The title of favorite, must leave it to the journalists and to the people who are outside the national team to talk about that. As we know, this competition is never easy to win, Senegal has been participating for years and we only won it once so it’s not for nothing. Today Senegal is what it is, we continue to work, we remain humble. But a lot of confidence and self-sacrifice to win this edition. We will try to do everything on the field, stay focused and try to win this AFCON and bring it to Senegal again Insha Allah,"
said the 36-year-old midfielder, Wednesday after the flag ceremony at the Presidential Palace.
