Coton Sport of Garoua clearly have gone separate ways with their head coach Souleymanou Aboubakar that was last week following a series of unwanted results. The interim backroom staff of the club seem to find glory already as they finally have pushed Coton Sport to obtain their first three points of the championship in Cameroon.
After a dramatic series of 3 defeats and 2 draws, Coton Sport has finally broken the spell. The Garoua-based club won their first game of the season on Wednesday night in the eighth round of the Cameroonian league (Elite One). The defending champions were never in trouble against a Fovu of Baham porous in defense, and even offered a festival of goals (5-1).
The young Patient Wassou and his partner Kaiba scored twice each. Tombi Alémi scored the last goal of the game in the 90th minute, while Kameni saved the honor of his team after the hour mark (65th). Thanks to this victory, Coton Sport (5 points) leaves the last place in group B, but not the relegation zone.
Unlike Coton Sport who celebrated their first win, Canon Sportif conceded their first defeat. After 5 consecutive wins, the Yaounde club lost to the temerity of Apejes of Mfou (2-1). A missed exit that forces the Mekok Megonda (15 points) to give up their seat of leaders of Group A to Astres of Douala (16 points). The next day of Cameroon Elite One promises to be exciting with Bamboutos and Coton Sport to clash in a pool B crowd puller in Limbe this Saturday.
