Senegal, Mauritania, Madagascar and Sudan have validated this Friday, September 2 their qualification for the CHAN 2023 to be played in Algeria. These four countries join Morocco, Algeria and Libya.
The local Bareas have validated their ticket to the next CHAN 2023 despite their 1-1 draw at home against Botswana. Carlos (22nd) had shown the way to his partners. But, the Botswana will make the hosts doubt again after the goal of Jonhson (65th). Madagascar will hold on to secure its entry visa to Algeria where the competition will take place. In the first leg, the Malagasy had won in Gaborone 1-0.
Senegal dismisses Guinea, 3rd of the last edition
Finally say the supporters of Senegal. After three consecutive eliminations in front of Guinea, the local Senegalese selection has just stopped the bleeding by winning the double confrontation against the local Syli. It is in the penalty shootout that the local Lions made the difference thanks to their goalkeeper, the African champion Alioune Badara Faty who scored the last attempt (5-3). In regulation time, however, Guinea, obliged to receive its return match in Mali, had quickly made its delay (1-0). The men of Lappé Bangoura scored in the first minute. 1-0, this will be the final result as in the first leg last Saturday at the stadium Me Abdoulaye Wade in Dakar. Thanks to this success in the penalty shootout, Senegal will be at the CHAN 2023 in Algeria. The Lions had not played the competition since the 2nd edition in Sudan in 2011. Guinea, third in the previous edition, will be absent.
Sudan and Mauritania will also be at CHAN 2023
It was only a matter of formality for the Sudanese. Winner of the first leg away from home (4-1), Sudan won again the second leg against Djibouti (3-2). In the first half, the Sudanese were already leading 3-0 before lifting their foot a little and seeing the Djiboutians put two. They qualify for the CHAN 2023 in Algeria.
Finally, as in the first leg, Mauritania beat Guinea Bissau 1-0 in the return. The Mauritanians qualify once again to the competition.
