Only ninth in the Premier League, Liverpool is experiencing a difficult period. A bad time that could be explained by the departure of Sadio Mané, said the former French international Emmanuel Petit.

Liverpool is currently struggling in the Premier League. The Reds are only ninth after 19 games with only 28 points. They are far behind fourth-placed Manchester United (38 points, ten less) and leader Arsenal (47 points, 19 less). As much as to say that Jürgen Klopp's men are far from the account.

To the former French international Emmanuel Petit, this decline is explained by the departure of Sadio Mané, who left for Bayern Munich last summer. "Since the departure of Mané, Liverpool does not play in the same way. Mané was such an important link between the midfield and the attack of Liverpool. He played with so much energy on the field, "said the 1998 World Cup winner in an interview with English media.

He continued: "He was decisive and always contributed with goals and assists. He led Liverpool's pressure and scared the defenders when they had the ball. He set the tempo for the team and everyone else followed suit, Salah did the same job."

In addition to his contribution on the field, Sadio Mané with his great performances, pushed, according to Emmanuel Petit, Mo Salah to surpass himself too. A competition that has brought Liverpool to the top in recent seasons. "There was a great rivalry between Salah and Mané and they pushed each other, which helped the team. They used to play with coordinated pressing, but that doesn't happen anymore," he explained
