Morocco (D1): AS FAR are champion of the first phase

Will AS FAR finish on top at the end of the season? The Militaries look poised this season to go after a D1 title that has eluded them since 2007-2008. With 31 points in 15 days, they are champions of the first phase of the "Botola Pro D1 Inwi". An honorary title acquired on Wednesday, January 25 against strugglers the Ittihad Riyadi of Tangier (4-0).

The winning charm of coach Fernando Da Cruz was shouldered by his recruit Mustapha Sahd, author of a double (10th and 56th) and an assist for the other recruit Lamine Diakité (21'). Zakaria Fati (80') will seal the fate of the game. The Tangier club ends the first phase without any win.

The Military have the same number of points as Wydad who beat Moghreb of Fez (1-0), thanks to its playmaker Aymane El Hassouni (53rd). The Red and White are ahead of Raja Casablanca (27 points) forced to a goalless draw, the day before, by Difaâ Hassani of El Jadida.

In other games, the promoted JS Salmi went to get a point at Olympique Club de Safi (1-1). Mohamed Bahsain (43rd) answered the opening goal of Oussama Mahrous (14th) for the Safiots. Earlier, Moghreb of Tetouan lost at home to Mouloudia of Oujda (1-2). Soulayman Driouech (54th) scored an own goal before Moghreb of Tetouan equalized by Rochdi Oulad Abdelouahab (71st).

Oujda will take the three points thanks to its Senegalese recruit Paul Valère Bassène, author of his 5th goal in the championship (1 assist). On Thursday, FUS of Rabat (26 points) can eject Raja from the podium when they visit Hassania of Agadir.
