Algeria and Senegal have validated their tickets for the final of the CHAN after respectively beating Niger (5-0) and Madagascar (1-0). An unprecedented final as the two nations have never reached this stage of the competition. Madagascar, which discovered the competition, and Niger, which made its best course, have offered beautiful games throughout the tournament.
Senegal has done it! Twelve years after their last participation in the CHAN, the Senegalese obtained the first qualification of their history after their 1-0 win against Madagascar on Tuesday, January 31. In the second half, Senegal continues to press high and gets many situations. But the best opportunity will come on the counter. After a deep call from his half of the field in the 71st minute, Cheikh Ibra Diouf cleared the Malagasy keeper. However, his left-footed shot went wide of the goal. The danger was always on the Barea goal, while at the other end, Mamadou Sy had no save to make. In the last quarter of an hour, Madagascar tried to push, driven by the energy of despair, in vain. For their first CHAN, the Barea will still have reached the semi-finals. They will try to get the bronze medal on Friday, February 3 against Niger. The final will be played on February 4.
Algeria without mercy
On its part, Algeria has offered a real demonstration earlier in the day against Niger. The Fennecs won their first qualification for the final of the CHAN after a 5-0 success against Niger. A real festival when we know that the Algerians were content until then with a goal per game.
Aimen Mahious, the goleador scored a double (25th, 34th). This allows him to take the lead in the ranking of scorers. Before him, the captain Ayoub Abdellaoui had opened the way (15th). The other two goals were scored by Katkoré (45th, CSC) and Sofiane Bayazid (83rd). The Nigerians, for their part, have the merit of having achieved the best campaign in their history at the CHAN.
