Mauricio Pochettino on Nicolas Jackson: "He's a great talent".

Nicolas Jackson has won over many fans, as well as his coach, following his outstanding performance against Brighton. Mauricio Pochettino had this to say about his new player.

Nicolas Jackson shone for Chelsea last night. The Senegalese striker scored a goal and provided two assists in the 4-3 friendly win over Brighton. A performance which earned the 22-year-old the Man of the Match award. His coach Mauricio Pochettino was delighted. "This type of match is important for him to get a feel for what it means to play in the Premier League," the Argentine manager began by telling the press.

Pochettino then went into a little more detail about Nicolas Jackson. "I think when Chelsea sign a player like him, it's because they detect something important in quality and talent. He's a great talent, he needs time to adapt to the new club, the Premier League. He's young too, so we need to help him develop and evolve into an important player for Chelsea".

Filling a void

The former PSG coach was also asked about the future use of Nicolas Jackson. Chelsea have other talented attacking players, including Christopher Nkunku. When a journalist asked the coach if the two could start together, he didn't hesitate: "Of course, we'll come up with the possibility of playing them together in the next few games. It's just that the physical condition circumstance means we have to use both of them to share the minutes".

Recruited for 38 million euros, Nicolas Jackson has a card to play on the Blues' attacking front. The Blues were lacking in attack last season. Their top scorer was Kaï Havertz (9 goals). He has since left the club and joined Arsenal. The 22-year-old Senegalese must therefore seize the opportunity. No doubt his performance against Brighton already gives him some credit.
