Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey, is facing an extended period on the sidelines due to an unfortunate injury setback.
Thomas Partey, a key player for Arsenal, will be sidelined for approximately six weeks, as confirmed by the club. This unfortunate development means he will miss the highly anticipated clash against Manchester United in the English Premier League.
Arsenal shared the disappointing news via their official social media channels, revealing that Thomas Partey has sustained a groin injury. Despite his absence, Arsenal managed to secure a remarkable 3-1 victory over Manchester United.
Arsenal's manager, Mikel Arteta, expressed concern about the severity of the injury, stating, "It doesn't look good. We need to conduct further tests. I believe he'll be out for a few weeks." These words from Arteta added to the uncertainty surrounding Thomas Partey's recovery.
As reports emerge today, it appears that Thomas Partey's absence could extend up to six weeks. This means he will be unavailable for several crucial fixtures, including matches against Everton, Tottenham, Bournemouth, and Manchester City, as well as encounters with PSV Eindhoven and Lens in the UEFA Champions League. Fans are hopeful for his return in October.
Regrettably, due to this injury setback, Thomas Partey will not be able to represent Ghana in the 2023 AFCON qualifier against the Central African Republic.
Chris Hughton and his men without thier talisman like Partey, have already initiated their first training sessions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.
Twelve players participated in the initial training session, including key figures like captain Andre Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo, Baba Iddrisu, and debutant Jonathan Sowah from Medeama SC.
They team has arrived in Kumasi to continue their preparations ahead their crunchy fixture on Thursday.
Speaking in an interview ahead of the fixture, gaffer for Ghana’s team Chris Hughton rallied his players to be at their best for the game against the Central African Republic.
“We don’t know what to expect apart from a hard game. It’s going to be a tough game. This is a big competition with some good teams in it but we would have to make sure we compete well enough to win the game,” Coach Chris Hughton said.
Ghana will host the Central African Republic on Thursday, September 7.
The game is scheduled to be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and will kick off at 4 p.m.
