Excitement is reaching unprecedented heights across Cameroon ahead of the highly anticipated fight between UFC champion Francis Ngannou and British boxer Tyson Fury. Ngannou fans are mobilizing across the country to show their support, and the streets of Yaoundé and Douala have become a veritable fan festival. Optimism takes to the streets

In Yaoundé, in the university district of Ngoa-Ekelle, an ice-cream parlour has become the rallying point for fans, where over a hundred young people are planning to gather to watch the fight live. The atmosphere is electric, with Cameroonian flags and giant posters of Ngannou adorning the walls. Marie Ngo, a 22-year-old student, is looking forward to Saturday and the "Predator" victory.

"Francis is a real hero for us, and we know he's going to give it his all in the ring," she says, convinced. This is a historic moment for Cameroon, and we're proud to support him." Tomorrow, a caravan of fans is scheduled to take to the streets of Yaoundé to celebrate the event. The streets are expected to be flooded with fans sporting T-shirts and banners in support of Ngannou, in an unrivalled show of solidarity.

Victory or nothing

In Douala, the streets also come alive as the fight approaches.Francis Ngannou polo shirts and caps are selling like hotcakes. Shopkeeper Hervé Tafone enthuses: "It's incredible to see how passionate people are about this fight. The polo shirts and caps are selling so well that we're having a bit of trouble keeping up with demand."

Optimism also reigns among the fans, who believe in Ngannou's victory over his opponent.Adéline Ekoumba, a 35-year-old fan, doesn't see an outcome other than Ngannou's success. "Francis Ngannou has incredible strength, and he's a role model for Cameroon's youth. I'm sure he'll beat Fury. It's not even a debate," she insisted.Francis Ngannou's fans are gathering enthusiastically, ready to support their champion in what promises to be an unforgettable sporting event.
