Sam Morsy has reportedly asked not to be called up by Egypt for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The Ipswich Town captain wants to concentrate on his team's promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season. Author of five goals in 23 appearances in the Championship (English D2), the Egyptian Football Federation has received no communication indicating that Morsy does not want to play in the AFCON.
Ipswich Town are currently second in the Championship, six points clear of third-placed Southampton.
