From 2016 to 2023, Gabon's men's and women's 1st and 2nd division clubs are carrying a debt of 3.7 billion Fcfa (5.6 million euros). An audit was initiated and submitted to the Minister of Sports. He in turn submitted the findings to the Prime Minister.
"This report comes from the fact that two weeks ago, the players had come to the Ministry of Sports to claim their salaries. This debt has been outstanding since 2016 until 2023, and we have undertaken to set up a commission to try and assess it. This debt amounts to 3.7 billion CFA francs," reveals André Jacques Augand. "It's in all our interests to ensure that sport, and soccer in particular, returns to normal," says Prime Minister Raymond Ndong Sima.
