Petković: 2-year contract and 120 thousand euros salary to manage the Fennecs

Still looking for a national coach to succeed Djamel Belmadi, the Algerian Football Federation is multiplying the leads. Zinedine Zidane, Carlos Queiroz, Jose Peseiro and Vahid Halilhodzic have all been mentioned. However, the FAF may be looking for the Bosnian-Croatian Vladimir Petković. Various sources report that the two parties have reached an agreement. The Swiss technician could sign a 2-year lease until 2026, with a monthly salary of 120,000 euros. His future contract would stipulate a quarter-final place at the next AFCON 2025 and qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

Petković was Switzerland coach between 2014 and 2021. On the Helvetians' bench, the former Girondins de Bordeaux coach led the Nati to the Round of 16 at Euro 2016, then to the Round of 16 at the 2018 World Cup, before falling to Spain in the Euro 2020 quarter-finals (1-1, 1-3 Pen).

At club level, Petkovic also won the Italian Cup in 2013 with Lazio Rome. He has coached a number of clubs, including Lugano, Young Boys and Sion in Switzerland, Samsunspor in Turkey and Bordeaux in France.
