FIBA Afrobasket

The African Nations Championship, "FIBA AfroBasket"

 
The African Men's Basketball Championship pits the national selections of African countries against each other and is held every 4 years. It is organized by FIBA Africa. Since 1962, the first edition of the championship was held in Cairo, Egypt, and it is the host country that won the title with only 5 participating teams. But since 2007, the 16 best nations of the African continent have been competing. Angola is the most titled nation, as it has won 11 titles. Egypt and Senegal hold 5 titles each. If until now the competition was held every two years, the next editions will be held every 4 years. In addition, the teams qualified for the final of the tournament 2021, will be selected for the qualifiers of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
 

The Afrobasket 2021

 
20 teams will participate in the second phase of qualification for the next AfroBasket. Divided into 5 groups of 4, these teams will play 2 tournaments. And the 3 best teams of each group will qualify for the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 which will take place this time in Rwanda.
