Coach Hossam El Badry has named a squad of 28 players to take part in their last two qualifiers for the 2020 Africa Cup of Nations.
The team includes Premier League players, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Aston Villa’s Mahmoud Trezeguet and Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny.
The Pharaohs currently top Group G with eight points, same as Comoros in second, but with a better goal difference and a draw against Kenya in Nairobi or a win over Comoros at home will seal their place in the tournament to be hosted by Cameroon next year.
Mostafa Fathi - who lastly played for Egypt in 2017 and Mohamed Farouk, who won his first and only cap for the the record Africa Cup of Nations winners was in 2014, have been recalled.
From the list of 28 players, 22 play their club football in the Egyptian Premier League.
This partly justifies why Egypt have not been hit by the problem some other African countries are facing after the French Professional clubs unanimously refused to release players travelling outside of the European Union due to the amount of time they will be need to spend in quarantine upon their return.
