AFCON 2025: Morocco complaints to CAF about Senegal

Less than 24 hours after the final of the AFCON 2025, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has laid a complaint to CAF. The federal authority did not appreciate the acts of violence that followed after the match referee called a penalty against the Lions of Senegal. Through a statement, Morocco announces having filed a complaint with CAF. 

«The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announces that it has initiated legal proceedings with the African Football Confederation (CAF) and the International Football Federation (FIFA) regarding the withdrawal of the opposing team from the field during the final match against the Moroccan selection, as well as the events that followed the announcement by the referee of the validity of the penalty after consultation with the VAR, which strongly disrupted the normal course of the meeting and was rejected by the players''.

In the same statement, the FRMF praised the Moroccan public who supported the national team until the end:

 «Furthermore, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation expresses its sincere thanks to the entire Moroccan public, who has remained loyal to the national team by their strong presence and constant support during all the matches of the national selection and the rest of the competition. They also thanks all those who contributed to the success of this continental tournament.
