AFCON 2025: Nigeria did not receive their bronze medal

Nigeria finally finished the competition in 3rd place. Egypt’s winners in the penalty shootout, the Super Eagles won the bronze medal. A medal that the players should have logically received on Sunday after the final which opposed Morocco to Senegal. 

But the Nigerians were not present at the Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium, nor represented by officials. However, the podium reserved for them in this edition was well ready to receive them, but finally remained in the basement of the enclosure. 

Sport News Africa learned that after the victory against Egypt in Casablanca, the federation’s leaders had not planned to return to Rabat the next day. No provision was subsequently made in this regard by the management. Faced with this situation, most of the players directly joined their respective clubs, some as early as Saturday evening. Hence the absence of a bronze medal ceremony, which went completely unnoticed after the chaotic end of the final match.
