AFCON 2025: Riyad Mahrez is not carried away after Sudan win

Convenient winners against Sudan (3-0) for their first match in Group E of the AFCON 2025, Algeria honored their status as candidates for the title for this edition. If the final score is flattering for the Greens, Riyad Mahrez knows the path that still remains to be taken by his team. Author of a brace during the game, the Algerian captain enjoys this success, even if the way he did it satisfied him. 

"We didn’t necessarily play well, but we won and that’s the essential thing,"

 he said to the beIN Sports microphone after the match, before continuing: 

"We have to raise our level of play because in four days we are playing against Burkina Faso. I have enough experience to know that one should not celebrate this soon.”
