CAF: Dissolution of the referees' commission and the departure of the SG

Held in Dar es Salaam on Friday, the meeting of the CAF Executive Committee led to a press conference by the president of the body, Patrice Motsepe. If the South African leader made several announcements such as maintaining the AFCON 2027 to the trio Kenya - Uganda - Tanzania or even establishing the League of African Nations every two years to compensate for the passage of the AFCON every 4 years, internally, he had to face the beginning of a revolt.
According to information from Sport News Africa, several members of the Executive Committee did not make the trip to Tanzania to attend the meeting, preferring to attend it by video conference. Among those present, some pointed to the referees' commission and the numerous controversies related to arbitration during the AFCON 2025. They requested its dissolution as well as the dismissal of its president, the Congolese Olivier Safari Kabene in order to start on a new basis. A point that has been debated at length.
If for the moment no announcement has been made, Motsepe also returned to the arbitration during his press briefing:
"The reports of the arbitrators at the edition in Côte d'Ivoire was excellent (...) In Morocco, given the elements produced, it was a disappointment."
Another point of conflict, the situation of the current secretary general of CAF, Veron Mosengo-Omba. While he exceeded the age limit (63 years) for the position and used his only authorized extension of term, several members requested his departure in order to comply with the planned texts.
