FIFA Ranking: Ups and downs on Africa

The day after the AFCON 2025 final, the FIFA ranking was published by the international body. Senegal, the reigning African champion, holds a record ranking after having climbed 7 places. Never in history. The Teranga Lions are 12th in the world and maintain their second place in Africa. Morocco remains the leader in Africa and is now positioned 8th in the world. The Atlas Lions equal the best ranking in their history despite the defeat in the final. They are back in the top 10 for the first time since April 1998.
Third at the AFCON 2025, Nigeria jumps by 12 places and now ranks 26th worldwide and 3rd in Africa. Cameroon, after their journey at the competition, reaching the quarter-finals, also climbs 12 places and ranks 45th in the world and 7th in Africa.
Eliminated in the round of 16, Tunisia loses 6 places. Now, the Carthage Eagles are 47th in the world and 8th in Africa. Algeria (28th in the world ranking), Egypt (31st in the world ranking), Côte d'Ivoire (37th in the world ranking) and DRC (48th in the world ranking) gain 6, 4, 5 and 8 places respectively.
The next FIFA Ranking will be published on 1 April.
