Football - Ivory Coast: FIF finally communicates on the case of Nicolas Pépé

The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) published a statement this Wednesday evening to support Nicolas Pépé, victim of racism and harassment on social networks.
«The President of the Ivorian Football Federation, Yacine Idriss DIALLO, and his Executive Committee condemn in the strongest terms the harassment and racist insults suffered by the Ivorian international Nicolas Pépé on social networks. Nicolas Pépé apologized for the misunderstanding related to a joke and the FIF welcomes this gesture of appeasement,"
writes the Ivorian Federation.
Then to add:
"However, no misunderstanding can justify online hate speech. The Ivorian Football Federation recalls that mutual respect, fraternity and solidarity between peoples remain essential values of African football. At the dawn of AFCON 2025, organized by Morocco, a host country and host country, the FIF reaffirms its commitment to promoting football based on respect, unity, and the fight against all forms of discrimination.
