Medhi Benatia resigns from his position as Director of football at OM

Medhi Benatia announced via social networks in Sunday that he has ended his collaboration with Olympique Marseille where he held the position of Football Director since January 2025. 

A decision following the deep crisis that OM is going through and which has already coat coach Roberto De Zerbi.

'... You know my frankness and transparency; therefore, given the tensions around the management, I have indeed submitted (and not proposed) my resignation, because in my opinion, the club will always come before men and I do not want my presence to become a hindrance or a burden for organization and development," 

wrote Benatia.

“That’s why, after a long reflection, I took my responsibilities and decided, on Monday, February 9, to end my collaboration with OM. I leave with the feeling of having done as much as possible on a professional level, but with the regret of not having succeeded in calming the environment around the group which, in my opinion, has largely the capabilities to achieve the requested objectives. Stay behind them, encourage them as you know how to do.”

The former central defender of Morocco concluded his letter in these terms:

 "I wish the players and the staff a total success for this end of the season. Marseille is and will remain apart from 'Allez l'OM'. Of course, I will take the time to explain my choice at the desired moment.
