Senegal: Less reassuring news for Ismaïla

One of the Senegalese national team's key players, Ismaïla Sarr, is uncertain for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (December 21, 2025 – January 18, 2026). This is due to his ankle ligament injury. At present, all possibilities are being explored: participation or withdrawal.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner gave the latest news on the Senegalese right winger's injury.

"Honestly, it doesn't look very serious. But he will definitely miss our games this week. There is a slim chance he could return before the Africa Cup of Nations. But we need to do further assessments and see how things go over the next few days. He has injured his ankle ligaments. They are not completely torn, but there are problems with the ankle ligaments,"

 he said.

Regarding Ismaïla Sarr's participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Oliver Glasner was more or less reassuring:

"The Africa Cup of Nations? As I mentioned, maybe he'll be back before going to the Africa Cup of Nations, and he could play one or two games for us. We are still optimistic, and I know how hard our medical staff is working. But he may also miss the AFCON if he doesn't progress in the right direction or if his ankle is very swollen. So, let's say that at the moment, two scenarios are possible: either he plays for us and then goes to the AFCON, or he misses the AFCON,"

 he said.
