Senegal: Pape Thiaw does not want his fine paid by supporters

Pape Thiaw, the coach of Senegal reacted on social media this Thursday evening to the outburst of solidarity from the Senegalese people who launched an online fundraising campaign to pay part of the fine imposed on him by the CAF, which amounts to 100,000 dollars.

The organizers of this initiative have set a target of 50 million CFA francs and have already raised more than one million. However, Thiaw made a plea for this money to be used for noble causes, for the benefit of the needy.

“People of Senegal, my family, your solidarity since the announcement of the sanctions goes straight to my heart. Thank you for the love you show me every day. However, I humbly ask you not to organize a fundraiser on my behalf. If I understand and appreciate this surge of generosity, I invite you to redirect these funds towards more urgent causes, for the benefit of those who truly need them,"
