Yoane Wissa, Congo’s leading goalscorer in the World Cup

Yoane Wissa enters the history of Congolese football. With his equalizing goal against Portugal on Wednesday, the Newcastle striker became the very first scorer in DR Congo’s history in the final tournament of the World Cup.

In their first appearance in 1974, the Leopards failed to score a single goal, conceding 14 goals with 3 defeats in 3 games. It is therefore a great achievement for Yoane Wissa who becomes at the same time the very first Congolese player to score in the AFCON and the World Cup.
