Just like Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt has qualified for the quarter-finals of the football event of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2021. South Africa, on the other hand, is out of the competition.
The Egyptians have qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, where they are the bottom of Group C. The Pharaohs have validated their ticket thanks to their victory (2-0) over Australia and the 1-1 draw between Spain and Argentina.
The Egyptian goals were scored by Ahmed Rayan (44th) and Amar Hamdi (86th).
In the quarter-finals on Saturday 31 July, Egypt will face Brazil. On the same day, Côte d'Ivoire, who qualified from group B after their 1-1 draw with Germany, will face Spain.
Africa's third representative, South Africa, is eliminated. Bafana Bafana are leaving Tokyo without a win. They suffered their third defeat (0-3) in three games in Group A against Mexico on Wednesday.
Previously, the South Africans lost successively to Japan (0-1) and France (3-4).
