2021 AFCON: Today's round of 16 games preview

The Round of 16 games in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, looks forward to being full of fireworks as Senegal takes on Cape Verde while Malawi faces Morocco.

It seems to be a battle between the beaten and unbeaten in the group stage of this year's edition of the AFCON.

Senegal Vs Cape Verde

The Terenga Lions of Senegal are on a quest to win their first AFCON trophy after it has eluded them on many occasions. The star-studded Senegal side is yet to sparkle after three group games. They ended the group stages with five points and just a single goal scored. They are have also recorded three clean sheets in all their games. Mane and co will need to rise and score goals for a side that has managed to score just from the penalty spot. With a full squad today, Aliou Cisse's men will be looking forward to being at their best.

On their part, the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde picked up four points from three games in Group A. Bubista's men will be looking for their first knockout win in the AFCON.

Both sides have met 18 times in all competitions since January 9, 1979. The Terenga Lions have won 14 while the Blue Sharks have won just 2 and recorded two draws.
Meanwhile, in their last three games since 2016, Senegal has won all three games scoring six goals while recording a clean sheet in all the games.

Morocco Vs Malawi

The Flames of Malawi will be playing their first knockout game in the history of the AFCON. They also had a successful campaign in the group stage that saw them accumulating 4 points for the first in history.

Meanwhile, Morocco has shown that they are one of the sides to count on. The 1976 champions are on a course to win the title since doing so in 1976. They are yet to lose a game in this edition of the AFCON. Sofia Boufal is the man to count on when the Atlas Lions take on Morocco. The former Southampton winger has scored two goals so far in the campaign.

With the competition being full of surprises, anything is bound to happen today.
