Nigeria on Thursday finally welcome back Al Shabab striker Odion Ighalo to the Super Eagles' fold on the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde Islands later this week in Morocco.
Ighalo had embarked on a self-imposed international retirement from the Super Eagles after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt where he inspired the West African country to win bronze and nicking the topscorer gong.
With his return, he is expected to boost the attacking ranks of Gernot Rohr's squad as they go into their final group games in the World Cup qualifiers before next year's Afcon tournament in Cameroon.
On his arrival alongside goalkeeper John Noble to camp, the Eagles camp swell to 24 for their penultimate Group C fixture against Liberia on November 13 in Tangier before hosting Cape Verde in Lagos, three days later.
“I am happy to be able to make it here. Good to be back with the group and the spirit is excellent, ”Ighalo told thenff.com after Thursday evening's session.
The Super Eagles will have a feel of the turf of Grand Stade Tangier during the official training in the evening and Saturday's match against Liberia will kick off at 5pm Morocco time.
