Amy AKonkwo, the one who buried the Lionesses
With an excellent Amy AKonkwo (16 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist), Nigeria has unfolded without being worried. And when Ify Ikbewe (14 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist) got involved, the task of the Senegalese became more titanic. The Lady Tigers hurt the teammates of Yacine Diop (14 points, 4 rebounds) and Mame Marie Sy (16 points, 2 rebounds) who tried to resist with their arguments against Nigeria. But it was not enough. They could not solve the Nigerian equation alone.
Nigeria won successively the 1st (22-11), the 2nd (23-20), the 3rd quarter (15-13). The Senegalese revolt in the last act (19-13) will count for nothing.
Nigeria won (73-63) and meet Mali in the final, Sunday 26 September at 18:00 GMT. The Eagles beat Cameroon earlier in the other semi-final (52-51).
