Cameroon GSL Women: Two teams tied on log with two games to go

Football in Cameroon is going through turbulent times especially for the teams and players of the Elite 1 and 2 championships as the competitions were stopped for close to two months. The teams have been asking for the annual government subvention before they could finally take to the pitches for the second round of the competition for the men.

On the other hand, the Guinesse Women Super League has been unfolding smoothly with great results and spectacles on the pitches. It is considered a very successful and eye opening football season for the women's league in Cameroon.

The competition which is played on good pitches across the country has encouraged many more female footballers to take to the art. Salaries are paid more often for the women than is the case with the men, the competition is hugely mediatized as games are broadcast on the national television; CRTV Sports and Entertainment.

One of the leading sides in the competition, AWA filles lost the chance to go two points clear off rivals Louves Minproff after a one – all tie against Caiman Filles on match day 20.

The girls of Hassan Ibrahim were pecked back on Thursday July 15, at the Mbankomo center, where they missed the opportunity to win, and widen the gap between themselves and closest competitors – Louves Minproff.

The two teams (AWA and Louves) are now on 50 points, 2 days from the end of the championship.

Tantoh Melvis raised the curtain on The 25th minute, with a decisive pass from Farida Machia, who is making her return to the league.

Tatiana Eboumbou and her girls however, fought back 10 minutes later, and got an equalizer through Brenda Alaka.

The score remained unchanged despite the multiple – forward moves led by the two sides.

Despite AWA’s draw and the end, they’re still tied on the same number of points as Louves Minproff.

While awaiting an official classification, Louves remain top of the chart only on goal difference. The team from the capital city Yaounde will be representing Cameroon in the up coming Women's CAF Champions League zonal qualifiers when they will take on the representatives from Equatorial Guinea in a two headed encounter.
