France - Ligue 1: Excellent restart for six Africans

After more than a month off owing to the 2022 World Cup, the European leagues are back in action. The French Ligue 1 played its 16th day with six games. Six Africans were decisive.

The situation may well change at AS Monaco for the two Senegalese Krépin Diatta and Ismail Jakobs. The first one, a starter before the World Cup, was disappointing with the Lions in Qatar. It is on the bench that the eccentric striker attended the whole game of ASM, victorious over AJ Auxerre (3-2). His compatriot Ismail Jakobs, author of a good World Cup, seems to have won the confidence of the Monegasque coach, Philippe Clément. While he had started only three games on the first 15 days, Jakobs was in the starting line up this Wednesday. To compensate the coache's confidence for his name on the sheet, he delivers the decisive pass on the 3rd goal of his team.

Another decisive player is Karl Toko Ekambi. Considered a flop with Cameroon during the World Cup, the winger was very active during Lyon's victory over Brest (4-2). He provides an assist for the 4th goal of Lyon scored by Têté. The Beninese Steve Mounié reduced the score with a header for Brest.

Besides Mounié, three other Africans found the net. The Algerian Youcef Belaili, on penalty, offered the victory to Ajaccio in front of Angers (1-0). Mohamed Bayo, on his part, scored his first goal of the season. Arriving from Clermont during the off-season, he found the net against his former club, dominated 2-0. Finally, the Senegalese Mbaye Niang had opened the score for AJA against Monaco (2-3).
