Pascal Siakam will remain with the Raptors. His agent has just confirmed the news. Toronto's general manager Masai Ujri last week announced that the Cameroonian basketball player was set to stay.
If things were as planned, Pascal Siakam would have been in Kigali with Cameroon to play his first Afrobasket but the Cameroonian winger has, once again, missed an appointment with the Indomitable Lions. He had to withdraw because of a shoulder injury that forced him to go on the pool table.
6th season with the Raptors
The basketball player is now looking forward to the next NBA season and for the 6th year in a row, Pascal Siakam will wear the colours of the Raptors. However, since February and the All Star break, his future in the Canadian franchise seemed to come to an end because of his differences with his coach Nick Nurse and criticism from some fans. In the beginning of the off-season and the "free agency", Pascal Siakam was also announced with insistence to the Kings. This is no longer the case.Toronto GM Masai Ujri and then the player's agent Todd Ramasar sealed his future. "Pascal is a Raptor and he's going to play with us. I know our fans have not been easy on him. But believe me, Pascal is a proud person and an incredible player," the executive said last week.
On Friday 27 August, his representative confirmed this position. "From our side, we have not asked for any departure. Pascal has not had his best season. But he is looking forward to this season and is recovering from his shoulder operation. He will spend time with the team next week in Los Angeles," the agent said. This puts an end to the rumors. The Cameroonian will however miss the start of the season. In five championships with Toronto, the native of Douala recorded averages of 14 points, 6 assists and 2 rebounds. He also picked a title of Best Progression and especially a championship title in 2019.
