Former Ghanaian international, Abubakari Damba has heavily lashed out on poor performance by the Black Stars after they 1-1 draw game against Ethiopia at the Orlando stadium on Thursday, 11th November 2021 in the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Captain of the side, Dede Ayew gave the four-time African champions the lead in the first half but they failed to keep their composure. The Ethiopians equalized through Getaneh Kebede in the second half.
According to the former Black Stars goalkeeper, the attitude of the players and the game plan especially in the second half was poor and abysmal.
“Our attitude and game plan was poor and I think we were lucky not have to concede more goals because we lost concentration at some point. This is not good enough if you want to qualify for a tournament and I am expecting a better performance on Sunday against South Africa," he added.
The Black Stars will host South Africa on Sunday, 14th November,2021 at the Cape Coast stadium.
Currently, South Africa sits top of Group G with 13 points followed by Ghana with 10 points. The game is scheduled to kick off at 19:00GMT. A must win situation for host Ghana while Hugo Broos' team will sail through with a draw. South Africa is fresh from a home 1-0 win against Zimbabwe in the fifth round of games and will travel with their heads high.
The Black Stars are seeking to make a return to the World Cup after missing out on the 2018 edition in Russia.
Ghana had previously made the 2006, 2010 and 2014 editions that were played in Germany, South Africa and Brazil respectively.
