Uganda Premier League: KCCA FC defeat Onduparaka to go top

KCCA FC have gone top of the log in the 2022/2023 Uganda Premier League after picking a 2-0 away win against Onduparaka FC in match played on Friday at the Bombo Military Barracks ground.

In-form Allan Okello netted the opening goal after 31 minutes with a well converted penalty. Rogers Mato was fouled in the box and the referee pointed for a penalty.

It was striker Muhammad Shaban who netted against his former side at the stroke of half time and did not celebrate to respect his former employers.

Morley Byekwaso, the KCCA FC head coach said the win which takes them top of the log is very important. “Playing Onduparaka is never easy. But I am happy the players played well and picked maximum points,” added Byekwaso.

In the other matches played on Friday URA FC settled for a goalless draw against Black Power FC, while Arua Hills FC snatched a 1-0 win away to Express FC with Isaac Ogwang scoring the lone goal.

Bidco FC also ended Wakiso Giants good run of form picking a 2-1 win in a match played at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru. Walter Ochora and Vincent Zziwa scored for Bidco, while Ambrose Arinda was on target for Wakiso Giants FC.

KCCA’s now moved top of the log with 22 points from 10 matches played. Wakiso Giants FC who have played one match more are in second place with 21 points, while the reigning champions are third with 20 points, but nine matches played.

Action returns on Sunday with SC Villa facing Maroons FC, while Gaddafi FC host Vipers SC.
