15 December, a park in Accra
The park opens in the Ghanaian capital.
With Surf Ghana, Harmonie Bataka coordinates projects, training sessions and trips. Her work offers a glimpse of what keeps a local skate scene going.

Surf Ghana lists Harmonie Bataka as Freedom Skatepark manager and a board member. Around the sessions comes work that is easier to overlook: organising activities and keeping in touch with partners. She helps give the skaters’ gatherings a structure.

After the park's closure, handmade obstacles and regular sessions keep the activity going.
The collective opens a new space in Accra.
In May 2025, Harmonie is project manager during a visit by Surf Ghana and Element Skateboards to Wheels Ghana in Ho. The initiative includes an equipment donation, training tailored to different levels and a visit to the Youth Park, under consideration for a future skatepark.
The visit ends with a discussion: the two teams consider ways to support the local club over the long term.
For Harmonie, skateboarding also means freedom, joy and a second family. She encourages girls to try it and support one another. In 2022, the Skate Gal Club combines training with conversations between women, yoga and meditation.
