Kenya's Faith Kipyegon easily qualifies for the semi-finals
It's easy for the reigning Olympic gold medalist in the women's 1500m. Indeed, it was with great ease that Kenya's Faith Kipyegon secured her ticket to the semi-finals in Tokyo at the end of the qualifiers. She finished first in her heat on Monday.
She stayed in the lead for most of the time, but accelerated on the last lap and finished the race in the lead with a time of 4'01''40.
Faith Kipyegon is not the only African to qualify for the semi-finals of this event. Uganda's Nanyondo (2nd in the series) will also take part. She finished just behind the 2017 world champion, who clocked 4'02''24.
