MATCHS DU JOUR 16
Sensational! Timothy Kiplagat Ronoh, who started as a hare, flew through the Abu Dhabi Marathon on Saturday, December 17. Leading the elite pack, Ronoh decided to keep going when his pace-setting duties were done. He finally crossed the finish line in 2:05:20, more than four minutes ahead of compatriot Felix Kimutai (2:09:32). Ethiopian Adeledelew Mamo completed the podium.
"This is my first time in Abu Dhabi, so winning the race on my debut makes it even more special. Everything went well, we were taken care of, the course was really good and the place is really beautiful. This is a big win for me," Ronoh said after the race. He took home 44,000 euros. As a hare he was only supposed to get 1800 euros.
