Guinea validates its ticket for the quarterfinals. The adventure ends for Rwanda at the Afrobasket 2021. The host country lost to Guinea (68-72), Monday, August 30, for the playoffs of the quarterfinals. A huge blow for the Rwandans, who were hoping to play the quarterfinals of this competition.
The match was played in the last minutes. After a good start by the Rwandans in the first quarter (15-13), Guinea managed to go ahead at half-time (30-31). But in the third quarter, Cheikh Sarr's men had a ten-point lead over the Syli National (54-44).
The Guineans snatched victory in the fourth quarter by slamming a 28-14. Kenny Gasana's 28 points did not allow Rwanda to go further in this competition. Guinea will face Côte d'Ivoire in the quarterfinals on Wednesday 1 September.
