MATCHS DU JOUR 27
Algeria are waiting impatiently for FIFA's verdict on their appeal for "refereeing errors" following their elimination from the 2022 World Cup against Cameroon. While waiting for the decision, former Algerian international referee Mounir Bitam gave his analysis on the refereeing of Bakary Gassama during the second leg. According to him, the Gambian official violated the law 5 of international refereeing.
"The match between Algeria and Cameroon has seen, according to my analysis, a violation by the refereeing team of Article 5 of the law of international arbitration. The referee ignored to go back to the VAR on several occasions in favor of the Algerian national team, while the international legislator obliged him to refer to it in four specific cases and that he has absolutely no authority to assess or not its use," argues Mounir Bitam quoted by the Africafootunited website. As a result, the second leg of the play-off between the two teams should, in his opinion, be replayed.
