Africa continues its fine harvest at the World U20 Athletics Championships in Nairobi. Nigeria's Chinecherem Nnamdi won the bronze medal in the javelin throw on Friday 20 August. The 19-year-old athlete threw 74.48m. Chinecherem could even have won gold if he had set his season's best of 78.02m. The Nigerian nugget had achieved this mark in the qualifying rounds.
Even the world champion, Janne Laspa from Finland, did not manage to go that far. He recorded a throw of 76.46m at the World Championships. Silver went to Artur Felfner from Ukraine with 76.32 m.
