Moroccan boxers are still slow to make their mark on the 6th edition of the Mohammed VI International Trophy held in Marrakech. On the 3rd day of this competition, the 2015 world champion in Doha and bronze medalist at the 2016 Olympics, Mohamed Raabi, was eliminated. He was one of the great title hopes for Morocco during this tournament.
Two other Moroccan boxers were eliminated: Cheddar Rabab (48-50 kg) and Yasmine Mouttaki (45-48 kg). However, the Moroccan boxer Bertal Widad has brilliantly qualified on Saturday to the next round. In a very competitive fight, the pugilist beat the Russian Kirienko Anastasiia by 5 points to 0 in the category 52-54 kg.
Commenting on the performance of Moroccans on the MAP Agency, the coach of the national selection Abdellah Achik said that the eliminations are due to "their inexperience, lack of competition, lack of training abroad and the level of their opponents.
