CAF CL: Al Ahly pinned to a draw in Niger

Les Nigérien de l'US Gendarmerie ont contraint au nul (1-1) Al Ahly.

Al Ahly of Egypt drew 1-1 with US Gendarmerie of Niger on Saturday 16 October in the second preliminary round of the Champions League. The African champions opened the scoring with a penalty converted by Tunisian defender Aly Maaloul (19th). Diori equalized for the Nigerians in the 75th minute.

The return match is scheduled for Friday 22 October in Cairo. Al Ahly will have to play hard to ensure their qualification for the group stage of the Champions League.

However, the Egyptians will have to be wary of their opponents, whose morale will surely be boosted by this result against the best African team in recent years.
