"I am convinced that I can snatch the yellow jersey before the last stage. That's my goal and I'll do everything to achieve it''. These words from Lukas Kubis after his victory on the second stage of the Grand Prix Chantal Biya were not just empty words. The Slovakian rider succeeded in his mission. The 21 year old rider took the yellow jersey by winning the fourth stage (116,7 km) on Saturday 9th October.
The winner of the day crossed the finish line 7mn51s ahead of the yellow jersey holder, Artuce Tella from Cameroon. Barring a miracle, the SNH Vélo Club rider will no longer be able to win the competition. From now on, the host country's chances rest on the shoulders of Clovis Kamzong Abossolo.
The winner of the last Tour Cycliste du Cameroun is closely matched with the new yellow jersey holder. He and Lukas Kubis have the same time in the general classification (13h18'02''). The last stage (165 km) scheduled for Sunday promises to be very exciting.
