Stade Rennais won 2-0 against Rosenborg in the first leg of the play-offs at Roazhon Park on Thursday. The win has put them in a strong position to qualify for the UEFA Europa League, thanks in particular to Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd.
The Moroccan center-back scored the opening goal with a superb header from a good cross by Benjamin Borigeaud, and he was delighted with the result at the final whistle. The player appreciated team effort as the driving force behind the win saying: "Personally, it's always good to score, and we're here to help the team win. The most important thing is that we didn't take a goal, we were strong at the back. I'm not sure I'll be able to do anything about it alone" said the 25-year-old.
The defender was cautious with his words and he believes that nothing is decided yet. "We are very happy for the victory, now there is a qualification to get. In the return leg, we will have to be solid as we were today, thinking first of all of not taking a goal, and then expressing our talents. We have players who can create a surprise at any moment. So we're going to play our last card," he warned in the last sentence of an interview
