Football - Ligue 1: Nigeria's Samuel Kalu collapses on pitch

A big French classico game pitting two top tier rivals was marred by an unfortunate incident as Nigerian Samuel Kalu (23 years old) suffered a malaise in the middle of the match. While the match of the second day of Ligue 1 between Bordeaux and Marseille had just started, the Bordeaux player suddenly collapsed 5 minutes into the highly anticipated game. He regained consciousness after medical attention but was replaced by Rémi Oudin.

His replacement allowed the Girondins to snatch a draw (2-2). In a press conference, Rémi Oudin quickly returned to the situation of his teammate. "Kalu's discomfort gave us a chill. Fortunately, it ended well. When we saw what Eriksen went through, we had to think about it," he said.
