Morocco is off to a good start in its World Cup qualifying campaign. The Atlas Lions beat Sudan 2-0 on Thursday 2 September in the first match of the race for Qatar 2022.
Morocco quickly took the lead in the 10th minute of play, the defender of Rennes Nayef Aguerd opens the score. Morocco were not very flamboyant in their game. They only had 5 shots during the whole game (2 of which were on target), despite a 61% possession rate. The half-time score is one goal to zero.
The second half started like the first. Morocco scored in the 53rd minute by the Sudanese defender Abuaagla Abdalla against his own goal. The score will not change. Morocco had very few chances but the main thing is done since Vahid Halilhodzic's men are first in Group I. They are ahead of Guinea and Guinea Bissau who drew 1 goal each. Sudan is last.
