Indomitable Lions - Rigobert Song: "The door remains open to André Onana

The mystery remains as to why Andre Onana was suspended during the 2022 World Cup. While the Fécafoot cited a disciplinary issue, the 26-year-old goalkeeper retired from international duty on December 23. The Inter Milan goalkeeper is now shining at club level. And yet, Rigobert Song refuses to turn the page. The Cameroon coach is ready to take the player with 34 caps.

"The door remains open to Andre Onana," said Song in a press conference on Thursday, March 23 in Yaounde. But a possible return of the goalkeeper trained at the Samuel Eto'o Foundation is not without conditions. "Andre himself should know what he wants. In a group, there must be discipline. We will not let everyone do what he wants. André is one of the best goalkeepers of the moment, we won't say otherwise, but I prefer the collective to individualism. He has to be part of the team. For me, the door of the national selection remains open," said the coach.

The press conference was organized in advance of the third day of the CAN 2023 qualifiers. Cameroon hosts Namibia this Friday at the Omnisports Stadium in Yaoundé.
