Algeria: Amine Gouiri withdraws from the Fennecs
On Friday, March 22, Amine Gouiri played a part in Algeria's 3-2 win over Bolivia with a goal. However, the man from Rennes left the Fennecs' training camp on Saturday. The Algerian Football Federation announced that the striker had a family reason for his departure.
"The national coach, Mr. Vladimir Petkovic, has authorized Amine Gouiri to leave the national team training camp, which continues at the Sidi Moussa national technical center. The Stade Rennais player left his team-mates on Saturday to return home to France due to family commitments. He will therefore not be taking part in the match against South Africa on March 26.
Only a few medals remain to be distributed in Accra, where the 13th edition of the All-Africa Games is taking place. The podium of the medals ranking can no longer be changed. Egypt leads the way, followed by Nigeria and South Africa.
In a few hours, the curtain will fall on the 13th All-Africa Games. Since March 8, the Ghanaian capital of Accra has been welcoming African athletes from all disciplines. Alongside the challenge of organization, Ghana is also successfully meeting the challenge of participation.
The Ghanaians, who collected just 2 gold, 2 silver and 13 bronze medals five years ago in Morocco, are doing much better in front of their home crowd. So far, they have amassed 67 medals: 19 gold, 29 silver and 19 bronze.
Currently ranked 6th, Ghana is a long way behind Egypt in the medals table at these All-Africa Games. The Egyptian delegation is unplayable. They won 187 medals: 99 gold, 46 silver and 42 bronze. As in the previous edition, Nigeria came second. The Nigerians won 121 medals (47 gold, 33 silver, 41 bronze). South Africa closed the podium with 106 medals (32 gold, 32 silver, 42 bronze).

Cameroon: Jean-Pierre Siutat's outburst on Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid's choice to represent the United States at international level continues to be the talk of the town. In France, it's still not going over well. The French Basketball Federation (FFBB) president Jean-Pierre Siutat's comments on the Philadelphia pivot are a case in point."Team USA?With Embiid? Who can beat them? Seriously, no one. It's an easy way for him to win a gold medal," said the French basketball boss on The Athletic.
Joel Embiid is recovering from a meniscus injury that has kept him out of action for almost two months. The 2023 MVP hopes to return before the end of the season and take part in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Joel Embiid was interested in playing internationally for Team France. To do so, he needed a French passport.
So President of Les Bleus Jean-Pierre Siutat made sure he got one.
NBA: Jonathan Kuminga and Pascal Siakam in boss mode, Sixers in perdition
Golden State's success. On the night of March 20-21, the Warriors beat Memphis 137-116. A convincing victory thanks in particular to Jonathan Kuminga. The young Congolese finished top scorer for his team with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Golden State, now 10th in the West, will be hoping for at least a play-in spot.
On their part, Indiana can still directly hope for a place in the NBA play-offs. The Pacers are 6th in the East thanks to their 122-103 win in Detroit. With 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists, Pascal Siakam played his role perfectly. Philadelphia, on the other hand, can tremble. Still without Joel Embiid, the Sixers once again lost 102-105 at Phoenix. The Ivorian Mo Bamba (9 pts, 5 rbnds) could do nothing. Phily is 8th in the East. For the Suns, Sudan's Bol Bol (10 pts, 3 rbnds in 14 minutes) contributed to the success.
Olympic Games 2024: South Sudan in Group C with the United States

NBA: Georges Niang dominates Siakam, Kuminga falls at home
The Cavaliers came from behind to defeat the Pacers on Monday March 18 (103-108). In a very tight game, Georges Niang (13 points), managed to get the better of Pascal Siakam. The strong Cameroonian winger still stood out in this game. With 19 points and 12 rebounds, he recorded his 12th double-double of the season.
Like the Indomitable Lion, Jonathan Kuminga also lost at home. The Congolese winger (16 points) and the Warriors fell to the Knicks on Monday night, March 19 (112-119). Golden State can no longer string together two consecutive victories in the NBA.
