Beijing Half Marathon: Investigation launched into Chinese He Jie's controversial victory
The Beijing Half Marathon, won by China's He Jie, is at the heart of a controversy. The winner was allegedly favored. Video footage of the race shows He Jie, 25, being outdistanced as he approached the finish line by Kenyans Robert Keter and Willy Mnangat, and Ethiopian Dejene Hailu. But the latter seemed to slow down and signal to the Chinese athlete to go ahead. An attitude that sparked an outcry on Chinese social networks. "Sportsmanship is really reduced to nothing, it's a disgrace", complained one Internet user.
Faced with this situation, the organizer assures us that an investigation has been opened."We are investigating and will announce the conclusion to the public when it is known," a Beijing city official in charge of sports told AFP on Monday.
Promised a bright future, Adama Sanogo has eaten up his time with Chicago this season. The Malian pivot played just 31 minutes until Friday. On his last outing on April 12, he played 35 minutes against Washington. The 22-year-old made Bulls history with 22 points and 20 rebounds. In doing so, he became only the second player in Chicago history to score 20-20 since Charles Oakley in 1985.
Less than 48 hours after this feat, Adama Sanogo spoke of his performance. " I've been waiting for this moment all season, so to be able to play and do this now, it feels great. "It's like a dream come true for me. I think that's why I'm here. I don't think I got here by chance, and I'm here because these guys believe in me. They believe that I can have an opportunity. I have to show that I can do it too. You don't get these kinds of chances very often, so it was my mindset to take advantage of them," he admits, relayed by Basket USA. Qualified for the play-in round, the Bulls must now face Atlanta. What if Sanogo is the X-factor to take them further?
Israel Adesanya on Ngannou: "You'll always be Superman to me".
On March 08, Francis Ngannou lost to Anthony Joshua by a lightning ko. Despite this defeat, the Cameroonian can count on the support of his friend Israel Adesanya. The Nigerian has nothing but praise for the former UFC champion. He told Ariel Helwani's The MMA Hour show.
"I spoke to Kamaru (Usman), he said it best, he said to me, 'Yo, for us, he's Superman'. That's Superman. So seeing Superman hurt like that really disturbed me. It upset me. Even if it had happened to Joshua, I would have felt the same way. I don't want to see them go through that, it was a bad, bad knockout," claims Israel Adesanya. He adds. " It doesn't change anything, I'm thinking of Francis. You'll always be Superman to me, and he's still the man, he's still the guy who played his own game, regardless of what happened in his life and career. "
